March 10, 1978 ~ Pop, blue-eyed soul singer Robert Palmer releases Every Kinda People, lead single off his Double Fun album ~ Written by Free-bassist Andy Fraser, with some minor changes by Robert Palmer to make the song less political and more about human connection, it would be Palmer's first big hit, peaking at No.16 Billboard Hot 100. The singer would later remark he had gotten lots of comments from religious organizations who told him it's very positive, Palmer adding: “I suppose it is”

The best known instrumental version, however, is Herb Alpert's, recorded for the Whipped Cream & Other Delights album and released as a single. The single would reach top 10 Billboard Hot 100 and receive four Grammy Awards, the same as the original version.
