Tumahai has also worked with several other noted groups from New Zealand, Australia, and the UK including Mississippi, which later evolved into the Little River Band, as well as Chain, Healing Force, the Dukes, Tandoori Cassette, and reggae outfit Herbs. Tumahai is also known as an advocate for several Maori causes, working as a voluntary member to assist young Maori offenders, and helping develop an arts program for Maori prisoners.
